  • I'm not in the best shape, will I be able to keep up?
Good news! You don't need to be working out regularly in order to join these classes. As long as you don't have any medical conditions that prevent you from participating you are good to go. We have students of every age, body type, and fitness level getting together to learn martial arts / self defence and improve their fitness. Most things can be modified to suit where you are currently at on your journey.
  • Do you have beginner classes?
Yes! We run beginner classes for Muaythai every Monday & Wednesday at 5:30pm, along with open level classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Our S&C also runs sessions for beginners Monday & Wednesday mornings at 7am, and Monday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings 6:15pm. For BJJ, we run regular beginner 6 week intakes. These are a great way to build a good Jiu Jitsu base before transitioning into our regular open classes.
  • Can I join anytime?
Yes! Our small group classes are designed to welcome beginner and advanced students. Your instructor will work with you/your child more closely during the first few classes.
  • Do you offer trials?
We want you to be sure Art Of Training is right for you. That’s why we offer a Free Trial Class.
  • What if I miss a class?
No need to commit to a specific day and time. Use our flexible monthly membership to reserve and attend classes each week whenever works best for you and your family. Most junior students generally train on set days (Mon & Wed, Tue & Thu). The good thing is that we have plenty of classes each week, so if you miss your class, you can attend another day that week, or make up and train an additional day the following week.
  • How long until I can defend myself or compete?
Learning self-defence is like learning to swim. You may feel comfortable treading water after a few months in the pool. But it’s often a while until you can confidently swim laps or feel confident swimming in open water You will need to put in the time to confidently master life-saving self-defence skills or competition. All students vary when it comes to speed of progression, however, on average students often hit this confidence point after a year of consistent training (2 - 3x/week) or two years (1x/week). We have had students compete in as little as 6 months when committing to training 4-6x per week
  • What do I need to wear? Is there a uniform?
MuayThai: Dress in comfortable, well-fitting athletic wear such as a T-shirt & shorts/track pants without zippers or sharp components. (We do have club Muaythai shorts - These are not compulsory for adults) -Please bring a pair of either boxing if you have them. If not, we have spare pairs for you to borrow during your trial. Kids MuayThai: During your trial session, same as above. After the trial, our juniors have uniform which includes Muaythai shorts and T-shirt, as well all the protective gear required (Gloves, shin pads) BJJ: You will need a designated BJJ Gi (training uniform). We can usually lend you one for your first class until yours arrives.
