Kids Muay Thai Classes In Bacchus Marsh

At Art of Training, our Kids Muay Thai program is built around one thing, helping your child grow. Not just as a martial artist, but as young people.

Our classes in Bacchus Marsh give kids the skills, confidence, and self-discipline they need for success, in a safe, structured, and fun environment.

Whether your child has never thrown a punch in their life or is already active in sport, they'll be welcomed, coached properly, and challenged at the right pace.

No experience needed. .

Why Parents in Bacchus Marsh Choose Art of Training for Kids Muay Thai

Every parent wants their child to be confident, resilient, and capable. Muay Thai develops all of that and more in ways that traditional sport often doesn't.

Here's what your child will build through our program:

Confidence: There's something powerful about learning to defend yourself. As your child masters new skills week by week, you'll notice it in how they carry themselves at training, at school, and at home.

Discipline & Focus: Our classes are structured and coached, not free-for-alls. Kids learn to listen, follow instruction, and work hard. Those habits carry into the classroom and beyond.

Fitness & Coordination: Muay Thai develops balance, agility, speed, and strength in a way kids actually enjoy. No running laps. No boredom.

Resilience: Learning to try, fail, and try again in a supportive environment builds mental toughness that lasts a lifetime.

Respect: From the moment they walk in, our kids learn to respect their coaches, their training partners, and themselves.

Fun: Of course we want to achieve all of the above but our philosophy on training for juniors is simple, make it fun! If children enjoy training, they'll continue to train,  continue to improve, and all of the above falls into place.

What Your Child Will Learn

Our Kids Muay Thai program in Maddingley is structured around age-appropriate skill development. Classes are coached, progressive, and designed to build a solid foundation:

  • Correct stance, footwork, and movement

  • Punches, kicks, knees, and elbows — taught safely and progressively

  • How to block and defend against strikes

  • Clinching fundamentals

  • Situational awareness and what to do if approached by a stranger

  • How to handle a bullying situation with confidence — without escalating it

  • Appropriate use of martial arts skills

What a Kids Muay Thai Class Looks Like

We know parents want to understand exactly what their child is walking into. Here's a typical session:

Warm-Up: Fun, high-energy movement to get kids ready. Skipping, games, movement drills, and bodyweight exercises that kids actually enjoy.

Skill Development: The coach introduces and breaks down a technique step by step. Kids drill it with a partner or on bags with close supervision and feedback.

Pad or Bag Work: Controlled rounds where kids apply what they've learned. Energy levels are high. Smiles are everywhere.

Cool Down, Stretch & Reflection: A structured close to class, often including a short discussion on the values we build through training respect, discipline, and showing up.

Every class is coached. Your child is never just left to figure it out.

Our Muay Thai classes are designed and split into age-appropriate groups:

  • 5–7 year olds — shorter classes focused on fun, movement, and basic fundamentals

  • 8–13 year olds — more structured skill development, drilling, and progression

FAQs

Is it safe?

This is the first question almost every parent asks — and it's the right one.

Yes. Safety is our highest priority. Kids Muay Thai at Art of Training involves no harmful contact. Children drill technique with partners in a controlled way, work on pads and bags, and are supervised by experienced coaches at all times.

Our coaches are trained to work with children. The environment in our gym is positive, respectful, and inclusive. Bullying and rough behaviour have no place here.

What Your Child Needs to Get Started?

For their free trial class, your child just needs:

  • Comfortable athletic clothing (shorts and a t-shirt)

  • A water bottle

  • Slides or Crocs for when you're off the mats - we train bare feet.

We have communal gloves and equipment available for trial classes. After joining, we'll guide you on what to purchase, there's no pressure to buy anything upfront

What age can my child start?
We start at age 5, however, if you have an active, attentive and focused 4 year old, let us know. We offer trials to younger students.

What if my child is shy or nervous?

This is very common and our coaches are experienced at helping nervous kids settle in. We'd encourage you to come and watch the free trial class, most shy kids surprise their parents within the first 15 minutes. Others sometimes need a session to watch before joining in, we have plenty of students training with us who were incredibly shy on session number 1 - 14 years later one of them now coaches our kids classes!

How often should my child train?
For 5-7 year olds Once or twice a week is a great starting point for most kids. For our 8+ age group we recommend 2+ sessions per week. We have students who do this as a supplementary to their primary sport, for others, Muay Thai is their primary sport
