Strength & Conditioning | Bacchus Marsh, Maddingley
Get Stronger. Move Better. Feel Better.
If you've ever walked into a commercial gym, looked around, and had no idea where to start, you're not alone.
Most gyms in Bacchus Marsh give you access to equipment and leave you to figure out the rest. Art of Training does something different. Every session is coached, structured, and built around helping you actually progress, not just show up and sweat.
Our Strength & Conditioning program is for people who want real results from their training. Stronger. Leaner. More capable. More energy. And a training community that makes showing up something you look forward to.
If you're looking for gym classes in Bacchus Marsh that are actually worth your time, this is it.
This Is Not Your Average Gym
There are plenty of gyms in Bacchus Marsh and Maddingley. What there isn't plenty of is genuinely coached group fitness, where someone qualified is watching your technique, progressing your training, and making sure you're moving in the right direction week after week.
That's what sets Art of Training apart.
We're not a 24/7 access gym where you wander in and guess your way through a workout. We're a coached training facility where every session has a structure, a purpose, and a qualified coach running it.
The difference in results — and in how much you enjoy training — is significant.
Who's it for
Our strength and conditioning classes in Bacchus Marsh are designed for everyday adults. You don't need a fitness background. You don't need to already be in shape. You just need to want to improve.
Our members include:
-
Complete beginners who've never trained seriously before and want to start properly
-
Former athletes who've let fitness slip and want to get back to feeling capable
-
Busy parents who have limited time and need every session to count
-
People bored of commercial gyms who want coaching, community, and a reason to show up
-
Martial arts members who train Muay Thai or BJJ and want to complement it with strength work
-
Anyone who wants to get stronger, leaner, and move better — regardless of starting point
All fitness levels are genuinely welcome. We have members in their 20s through to their 60s training alongside each other, all progressing at their own pace.
What You'll Get Out Of It:
Members who train consistently in our Bacchus Marsh gym classes typically see:
-
Increased Strength — Real, measurable strength gains from progressive, well-programmed training. Not random workouts. Structured progression that builds on itself week to week.
-
Improved Body Composition — Combined with reasonable nutrition, consistent S&C training is one of the most effective tools for fat loss and muscle development available.
-
Better Movement Quality — We coach technique first. You'll move better, reduce your injury risk, and build a body that works well outside the gym too.
-
Cardiovascular Fitness — Our conditioning work improves your endurance, recovery, and overall engine without hours of boring cardio.
-
Energy and Confidence — People who train consistently feel better. More energy through the day, better sleep, more confidence in how they carry themselves. The gym becomes a keystone habit that improves everything else.
-
Accountability and Community — One of the hardest parts of fitness is showing up consistently. Training in a coached group with people you know solves that problem. You'll be missed if you don't turn up — and that matters more than most people expect.
What A Session Looks Like
Every S&C class at Art of Training in Maddingley follows a clear structure. You'll always know what you're doing and why.
-
Warm-Up & Activation Mobility work, movement prep, and activation drills specific to the day's focus. We don't just stretch and go, we prepare your body properly.
-
Strength or Skill Block The main focus of the session. This could be a primary lift (squat, deadlift, press), a movement skill, or a strength circuit, always coached with technique feedback and progressions for different levels.
-
Conditioning Piece Structured interval or circuit work designed to develop your cardiovascular fitness and work capacity. This varies significantly day to day, which keeps training fresh and development broad.
-
Cool Down Breathing, mobility, and recovery work to close the session properly and support long-term training health.
-
Every rep is coached. Every session has a purpose. You'll never stand around wondering what to do next.

Coached By Qualified Professionals
Our S&C coaches at Art of Training hold qualifications in strength and conditioning, personal training and CrossFit Level 1. This matters more than people realise.
Toni, our head S&C coach and co-founder, is a competitive weightlifter who has set multiple world records. She brings a genuinely elite level of knowledge to every program she designs and every class she coaches.
Our wider S&C coaching team, including Joe, Bree, Jared, and Lauren, all bring their own qualifications, experience, and coaching styles to the floor. What they share is a genuine passion for helping members improve and a high standard for how coaching is done.
This isn't a gym where the coach counts reps and plays DJ. This is a facility where coaching actually happens.
How We Compare to Other Gym Options in Bacchus Marsh
People often come to us after trying other options. Here's what we hear most:
vs. Commercial gyms (Anytime Fitness, 24/7 gyms) - Access to equipment is great, but without programming and coaching most people plateau quickly or get injured. We give you both the environment and the guidance.
vs. F45, BFT, group fitness studios - High energy and fun, but workouts are often random and one-size-fits-all. Our programming is progressive, meaning your training builds on itself and you get measurably stronger over time.
vs. Training at home - Convenient, but without coaching, community, and accountability most people struggle to stay consistent or push hard enough to see real results.
Art of Training gives you coached classes, a qualified trainer in every session, a genuine community, and programming that actually progresses.
Flexible Membership — No Lock-In Contracts
We believe you should train because you want to, not because you're locked into a contract.
Our S&C memberships start from $40 per week for 2 classes per week, or $60 per week for unlimited classes. No joining fee. No lock-in. Flexible billing weekly, fortnightly, or monthly to suit your pay schedule.
If life gets busy, you can pause your membership. If you need to cancel, just send us an email — no hassle, no guilt.
FAQs
Is it like CrossFit, BFT, F45?
It shares some DNA with those formats in that it's coached group training — but the focus is different. Our programming is structured for progressive strength development, not just varied high-intensity workouts. Workouts aren't random and coaches are focused on technique and progression, not just energy and motivation.
Is it beginner friendly, Do I need any experience?
None at all. We regularly take complete beginners and coach everything from the ground up. Your first few sessions will focus on movement quality and getting comfortable — we progress from there at a pace that suits you.
Will this help with weightloss?
Combined with consistent training and reasonable nutrition, yes, it's highly effective for body composition change. We can talk through nutrition options and support available after your trial.
How often should I train?
Two to four sessions per week delivers excellent results for most people. We'll help you figure out what works for your schedule and your goals.
What should I bring?
Comfortable training clothes and a water bottle. We’ll guide you from there.
Can I do Strength & Conditioning alongside martial arts programs?
Absolutely — many of our members do exactly this. S&C complements Muay Thai and BJJ brilliantly, building the strength and conditioning base that makes your martial arts training more effective. We can help you structure a weekly schedule that balances both.
I'm not very fit, will I hold the class back?
No. Our classes are designed to accommodate different fitness levels simultaneously. Every exercise has progressions and regressions, and coaches scale for individuals within every session. Nobody gets left behind and nobody feels embarrassed.
